On Saturday, August 8th, Dames, Knights, and Order of Malta volunteers braved the heat and came together to assemble 625 hygiene kits for the homeless and vulnerable of the greater Sacramento area. The number of homeless people living in the greater Sacramento area has increased 19% since 2017, showing the great need for the work being done by the Order of Malta.

This is the largest endeavor of the Sacramento Location to assemble and distribute hygiene kits for the forgotten people of our society. The kits included: a pair of socks, hand sanitizer, a face mask, lip balm, deodorant, soap, toothpaste, a toothbrush, a razor, and feminine hygiene products. Feminine hygiene products are integral to the health and dignity of women, and the kits include them because their cost causes many women to be forgotten in that need. In assembling these kits, the primary concern is for upholding the human dignity of the vulnerable. The experience of participating in this work of service is joyful and life-giving for our members because they choose to see Christ in the poor and the needy.

The kits will be distributed at Loaves & Fishes and other charities throughout Sacramento.

Supplies for the kits were funded through a Western Association Hospitaller Grant via generous donations to the Annual Appeal.  Remember the Annual Appeal provides vital help to those who need it most!  Support the Annual Appeal – a destination where your donations are put to work!

The Sacramento Location will be assembling more kits in the near future. Please keep their efforts in your prayers.
