On Sunday, September 18th, a large group of members of the Order of Malta visited San Quentin Prison for mass with Father George Williams, a member of our Order and the head Catholic Chaplain of the prison, Archbishop Cordileone and his MC, Father Coleman, as well as Patrick Kraft, Duke Powers, Tom Wallace, Kit and Tom Greerty, George DeLucchi and Sal Caruso, as part of our Restorative Justice Ministry. This was a very meaningful day to attend mass in the Catholic Chapel within the prison walls. There was also a group of Dominican nuns present and one of the inmates was confirmed during the mass by the Archbishop. We also witnessed the unveiling of a magnificent mural painted by the men in the chapel that stretched nearly 30 feet across. Father George has done an amazing job bringing the light of Christ into the darkness of this prison. The men have an incredible choir as well In particular Duke Powers did a magnificent job inspiring many of our members of the Order of Malta to attend mass, minister to the men before and after mass and above all pray with the men, Father George, Father Coleman and the Archbishop.
