With Covid-19 precautionary measures, the Diocese of Honolulu celebrated the Mass of the Sick at the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace at 12pm on February 11, 2021. The celebrant was Monsignor Gary Secor. Seating was by reservation only but the mass was live streamed on the Basilica’s Facebook page. About 80 people were in attendance.  The anointing of the sick took place but out of an abundance of caution, the priests used cotton balls to place oil on the sick’s foreheads and hands. Monsignor Gary’s message was that when we feel like God is rebuking us and not answering our prayers we must put our trust in our Blessed Mother, who says in the gospel, “Do whatever he tells you.” While we reflect on this we must ponder, whatever God wants will happen if we can conform ourselves to God’s will.

We pray that God will grant us the healing that he desires and that we ultimately need.

Upon the conclusion of mass, Janice Nguyen Auxiliary Leader of the Honolulu Location, Darryl Wong KM, volunteers Linda Butts and JJ Drexel Gregory, distributed water from Lourdes along with a Lourdes prayer card for those attending.
