There are no words to describe our collective sadness and deep concern for the trauma that our brothers and sisters have endured who've lost family members, their homes, and livelihoods in what is being called the deadliest and most destructive fire in the history of California, which erupted at dawn on November 8th in the drought-parched Sierra foothills northeast of Chico. The bulk of the devastation occurred in and around the hamlet of Paradise, where 27,000 people, many of them retirees, lived. The Camp Fire has burned 153,336 acres which is about 240 square miles and destroyed 13,972 homes, 528 commercial buildings and 4,293 other structures. The Relief and Recovery efforts that our members have been supporting through volunteerism, financial donations, and prayer over the past year in Sonoma County, which is ongoing, has better prepared us to assist in this disaster.

We've connected with the Order of Malta Leadership Team in Sacramento, which has been in communications with Bishop Soto and the Diocese of Sacramento, and we are in discussions with some of our partners, with whom we worked in Sonoma County, like Catholic Charities, Habitat for Humanity, SVDP, and others.

Your involvement, prayers and financial support will greatly support our efforts.
