The 18th Annual World Day of the Sick at The Cathedral of Christ the Light drew nearly 600 people from all over the Bay Area - Bishop Barber and 12 other priests of the Oakland Diocese offered the Sacrament of Healing for those in need and their caregivers. The Cathedral Choir sung Frank LaRocca's Messe des Malades, and the Mass was broadcast on YouTube live and latter that day on EWTN. The Order of Malta Oakland Region prepared 1,000 bags with Lourdes water, prayer cards and rosaries - all these were distributed, and the Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California hosted a reception with coffee and pastries, and offered tours of the newly expanded Clinic.

"It was a great day for Our lords the poor and the sick." - Eric Johnson

The Oakland Region organized the World Day of the Sick Mass along with Cathedral Rector Erick Silva, EWTN, Benedict XVI Institute, and the Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California. We hoped to accomplish effective communications to all 80 parishes of the Oakland Diocese and to draw more than 750 communicants.
