It was with great joy that the Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California was invited to join Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone for the annual White Mass for Catholic Medical Professionals on October 18th. The Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California, represented by Anne Brussok, Dr. Tom Wallace, and Auxiliary member Lorna Baggott, participated in the Mass and reception, along with the Bella Clinic and the Catholic Medical Association of California.
Members of the the San Francisco, San Jose, Monterey, Sacramento, and Oakland Regions were also present at Mater Dolorsa Church in South San Francisco for this special Mass.
In his homily on the feast of St. Luke the Evangelist and Physician, Archbishop Cordileone noted St. Luke was not just St Paul’s companion, but he tended his ailments. The Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California, Bella Clinic, and all Catholic medical professionals tend the ailments of our brothers and sisters in Christ, and keep them close to their hearts. Every year this is a great opportunity to share the work of the Order of Malta with the broader Catholic community and often Catholic physicians and nurses seek to then volunteer their services with the Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California. “As with every year, we enjoy meeting with Dr. Stephen McCurdy, President of the Catholic Medical Association and the many residents and students that come from Sacramento to share in our common pursuit of medicine infused with Catholic values." - Anne Brussok
