To Members of the Western Association:

Recently, you received a communication that addressed the newly adopted bylaws for the Western Association (“Bylaws”). This communication described changes to Western Association governance and election operations arising from the adoption of these Bylaws.

A fundamental principle of election operations contained in the Bylaws is “choice”- in other words, more candidates than open positions. While such an arrangement may resemble secular election operations, we as members of a lay religious order aspire to a higher standard. Accordingly, the Board of Directors has adopted Election Guidelines in an effort to reinforce the confraternal character of our Order. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Election Guidelines and adopt them in regards to your participation in the election operations of the Western Association.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact John Sylvia, Nominating Committee Chairperson (jgsylvia@sbcglobal.net).

Confraternally,

John Sylvia, KM
